Four teachers from our high school participated in the first endowment-sponsored project for teachers during the 2024–25 academic year—the fully funded “Ignatian Leadership” training program.
The program is based on the principles of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuit Order, which outline the steps to grow as a leader. It has been running in Lithuania for several years now. In the “Ignatian Leadership” training, educators can acquire the knowledge and skills to plan, organize, reflect on, and evaluate their professional activities, which undoubtedly prove useful in a teacher’s daily work.
The culmination of the training was a trip to Rome in the winter of 2025, where teachers participated not only in intensive academic courses but also in spiritual ones.
They are already sharing the knowledge they gained from the center of culture and history with their colleagues and applying it in their daily lives.
“The training lasted one academic year, included seminars, and featured many individual assignments, reflections, and discussions. It was an enriching, growth-oriented journey of self-discovery, during which I experienced inspiring moments of community and comfort.”
-Neringa Sveikatienė, VJHS elementary school teacher.
“The training allowed me to pause, reflect on my work, and deepen my calling as a teacher, based on the principles of Ignatian leadership—care for the person, striving for more, and service to others.”
-Inga Andrijauskienė, French teacher at VJHS.
