In 2026, the VJHS Endowment allocated €5,000 in support to the VJHS Foundation for Supporting Early-Career Teachers, which will be used to provide annual salary supplements for two teachers working at the high school. This support is intended to create favourable conditions for early-career professionals and help them establish themselves sustainably in schools.
For some time now, there has been a noticeable shortage of young teachers in Lithuania—not enough new professionals are entering the education system, moreover, some of those who have started their professional careers leave due to limited financial and professional growth opportunities. The current compensation system often fails to adequately reflect the motivation, time, and responsibility of young educators, especially during their first years on the job.
The Foundation for Supporting Early-Career Teachers aims to reduce this disparity by providing additional financial stability and recognition to those who choose the teaching profession. Annual bonuses allow young teachers to focus more on professional development, the application of innovative teaching methods, and a long-term commitment to the quality of education.
